It was well known that Richie wanted everyone to come together and celebrate his life should he pass, by smoking cigars and drinking margaritas and pina coladas on his tab. He also indicated that he wanted his ashes scattered over the ocean at sunset on the seventh hole of Pebble Beach. This came about after Georgia bought him a trip to Pebble Beach in March of 2000 where he golfed for three days and discovered the seventh hole on the course. Richie, the pilot, is in good company with the astronaut Alan B. Shepard whose ashes were also released at Pebble Beach.
